My Three NEW Ideas

Idea 1: For this idea there is a geeky girl, who is a nobody and just wants to be noticed by her class mates. She decides to go onto a talent show to get herself noticed, the crowd boo, she begins to sing. It goes back into a flashback and show her being completely ignored by everyone, then goes to present day and she’s still singing the song, she finishes and the crowd cheer. She gets home and loads of people have added her on facebook and the next day at school she is noticed and people smile at her and say hi. This leads to a finale song, where she is happy and feels great.

I think that this could be done in 10 minutes as it has a simple story line, in which my unique selling point includes a social network sight and flashbacks. I don’t know of many musicals which do this.

Idea 2: This idea is about a group of popular girls, who bully this one girl and they have done for a long time. A song opens it, where they are pushing the girl around and just being generally mean to her. It then goes a bit darker, as the girl goes home and begins to run a bath, she gets some vodka and pills and sits down at a computer, she types away at the computer, tears filling in her eyes, a sad depressing song is included here. She is about to commit suicide and she is writing her suicide note. Her phone is flashing as someone is trying to ring her, she doesn’t notice. She stands up and walks to the bathroom. The shot moves to someone trying to ring her, they then see her facebook status which happens to be her suicide note, they run to her house, and run upstairs and open the bathroom door. I decided to leave it at a cliff hanger, and not show the ending.

I think that this will work as a 10 minute short film, as the story line actually goes somewhere but it could all be done in 10 minutes. My unique selling points I think are obvious in this idea, as there is bullying, suicide, social network and a cliffhanger, I know no musicals that end on cliffhangers.

Idea 3: My final idea is about two girls that are best friends, they are in love but they haven’t told each other yet. This film would be based around them trying to tell each other and finally telling each other but deciding that they can not be together. The songs would be included when they are telling each other that they love one another and then at the end when they decide that they can not be together.

This could be easily done in 10 minutes as it is very simple, but emotional, which I think will draw in my audience. I think I could use some good flashbacks are lyrics throughout this song as the story line is so simple. My unique selling points are that it is a gay relationship and that they don’t end up together.
